Sage Centers for Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Care is the new name for three multiple location practices that have been in the San Francisco Bay Area for nearly 20 years. We adopted the new name in 2011 as it became clear that the collaborative nature of our practices and our specialists was one of the most important values of our organization as a whole. And since we have always managed our three practices as one organization, it was time our name reflected that.
Sage was founded in 1992 as Veterinary Surgical Associates (VSA), eventually becoming one of the largest surgical practices in the country. Veterinary Medical Specialists (VMS) was formed in 2002 to provide advanced diagnostics, oncology services and cardiac care. The Tri-Valley Animal Emergency Center (TVAEC) was formed in 2008 to provide 24/7 emergency and specialty medical care to Dublin and nearby communities. In 2009, VSA expanded its services to include neurology and physical rehabilitation.
Today, Sage’s practice includes over 40 highly-trained veterinarians, providing advanced care for cats and dogs in four centers throughout the Bay Area.* As a combined practice, we recognize the important role that animal companions play in our culture and how they contribute to our health, happiness, and well-being. It is with this understanding that we commit ourselves to serve the San Francisco Bay Area with the highest quality veterinary specialty medicine and the utmost consideration for our clients and the veterinarians who have entrusted us with their referral.
* Emergency Care currently available at our Dublin, Concord and San Mateo centers only. Specialty services are available after hours through referral. Please visit our individual facilities’ pages for hours of availability.
